Get Mini Dental Implants Placed In Only One Visit

Implant technology has changed with the introduction of a new procedure for mini dental implants (MDIs). Regular dental implants typically require major dental surgical procedures over the course of several visits to the office. Mini dental implants eliminate multiple visits and there’s only a minor surgical proceedure that can be performed in one visit. The MDIs allow our dentist to attach an anchor to the jaw in a single non-invasive service. MDIs are used in conjunction with stabilizing your dentures. The MDIs anchor the dentures in place and a person can now count on having a secure prothesis that no longer slips or wiggles.

The MDIs are designed to speed up treatments. A full set of dentures require surgical bone grafting and a large recovery time. With the smaller dental implants healing times are greatly reduced due to having no need for any bone grafting procedures.

What Are Mini Dental Implants?

A mini dental implant is similar to a tiny screw which serves to replace a tooth’s root. These implants are very strong and are constructed out of titanium. They are designed to provide quick healing and long lasting results. The top of the implant has a ball shape and fits to hold the dentures in place at the correct level. When secured in place, the dentures snap into place and can withstand large amounts of pressure and force used in normal eating movements.

What Are The Benefits Of Getting Mini Dental Implants?

Mini Dental Implants are a game changer for denture wearers who have been reluctant to get major dental surgery. Compared to full dental implants, MDIs are an excellent option for those patients who have suffered signifigant bone loss. Because they only require a very minor surgical procedure, MDIs are a much gentler option for those that are looking to get implants. Full implants are also incredibly expensive, especially since several visits to the office are required. When only one visit is needed for the mini dental implants, we can keep costs down.

Some other benefits of mini dental implants include:

  • No slipping or loose dentures
  • No stiches
  • Firmer fit for dentures
  • Better smelling breath
  • Permanent results
  • Clear speech
  • Easy chewing and biting
  • Easy to clean
  • Less discomfort
  • No glues or bonding agents needed
  • Rotting food doesn’t get stuck under the dentures
  • Fast procedure
  • Reduced cost

How Are Mini Dental Implants Installed?

The whole process of placing your MDIs takes about one to two hours. The four anchors for each denture plate are typically placed about 5mm apart from each other. However, our dentist will use diagnostic tools to figure out where in the mouth is the best area to place the MDIs.

Here’s a little how it works:

  1. Mild anesthesia is provided
  2. Small holes are drilled in the jawbone where the MDIs will sit
  3. The implants are then tightened into place
  4. A ratchet wrench is used to secure and stablize the MDIs
  5. The denture plate is measured against where the MDIs sit and is marked accordingly
  6. The denture plate is then shipped to a laboratory to drill the holes that accommodate the MDIs

Once the denture plate has been modified, it simply snaps into place on top of the MDIs. The MDIs hold the dentures in place for the life of the denture.

In most cases, there is no pain or stitches needed after the service is performed and after the denture plate is snapped into place, you can resume a light eating schedule. The dentures are removable to allow for easy cleaning.
